Philosophy

I’m constantly drawn to highlighting stories that often go unheard. Calmly observing the narratives of different cultures, atmospheres, and disciplines across creative industries. I’ve always witnessed life through a different perspective than others. Since I was a teenager, I have always been involved in community-oriented projects. Whether that is filming a cultural cipher in London, Ontario, El Salvadorian Civil War survivors, and small business owners across Canada.

The community storytelling page is designed to highlight more than just my freelance endeavours. I am a filmmaker and a creative producer, and I work within non-profits for various reasons. Freelancing is my service-based business, storytelling is my passion and the core of my long-term direction.

Elevating voices

While I capture stories, I also want to bring attention to stories that don't receive public recognition. Providing spaces and platforms for people to share their stories and opinions is significant and illustrates the diversity in perspectives within a community. Sometimes the quietest person in the room has the most to elaborate on. In contrast, some stories are out in the open; they just haven’t been captured.

Liming Project

The Liming project started in 2025 with a vision of building community through conversations. However, Liming.tv has done way more than that. Essentially, Liming.tv documents people, spaces, and activities going on within communities, starting in London, Ontario. From Local music artists to small business owners, Liming.tv aims to map out community and culture within a creative fashion.

From 20+ interviews and still growing, Liming has found a way to highlight what is going on in the London ecosystem while staying rooted in its casual, documentary style foundation. As the project develops, the stories are getting even better.

Liming is quintessentially the passion project that keeps on giving back. It is how I interact with so many people and communities within such a complex, fragmented city like London, Ontario. The stories in London occur organically; they are not fabricated.

Documenting Community

With a background in community-based research, it’s important to remember that community isn’t built overnight. There are countless hours,weeks, months of work out that lead to the development of community. As a storyteller i;ve learned that to document a community you need to be involved in the community as well. Build relationships with people, understand language and why specific infrastructures are in place. While some projects I work on take weeks to complete, others are ongoing pieces tied to culture that will continue long after me.

Mapping Community & Identity

Community

With a background in community-based research, it’s important to remember that community isn’t built overnight. As a storyteller, I’ve learned that to document a community, you need to be involved in the community as well. Build relationships with people, understand language and learn why specific infrastructures are in place. While some projects I work on take weeks to complete, others are ongoing pieces tied to culture that will continue long after me.

Identity

Identity is integral to how community and culture are established. For example, while examining Caribbean culture in London, I discovered that Caribbean Identity is central to Caribbean culture overall. Caribbean identity is loud, vibrant, and unique. The region’s diversity means participants reported various identities and experiences.

Identity is not a fixed variable either. Identity can change as you become immersed in a different environment. Language, customs, religion, and place all play a role in building identity, and it is something I find magnificent about humanity.

International Stories

Some projects I work on are created overseas. Large University projects, passion projects, and sometimes a conversation while on vacation. People and Cultures that have experiences to share and remember moments from the past. Some pieces are in different languages, but we’ve developed subtitles for a reason. These moments are meant to be hard for anyone, regardless of language and geographic location.
